The Brighton Area Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and 509(a)(2) public charity.  We are also 100% self-funded.  That means that we do not receive funds from the city, township, county or state.  We survive solely on the generosity of our patrons.  Please consider supporting BAHS financially.  We will accept any size donation whether it is a few dollars from an interested individual or several hundred or thousand dollars from a very generous patron or business.  Your donation is tax deductible and you can feel confident that you did something to help preserve our local history.

Larry Lawrence Memorial Scholarship

Pleasant Valley Cemetery Restoration

The group of volunteers will clean, restore broken headstones, locate buried or resetting headstones to their vertical position, along with cemetery maintenance. Friend of Lyon School

11455 Buno Road, west of Pleasant Valley Road. The 1885 Lyon School is a fully restored, barrier-free one-room schoolhouse and serves as our organization headquarters. Friend of Old Village Cemetery

The team of workers received professional training in 2012 on the best practices of restoring and preserving broken headstones. These skills were shared as more workers volunteered to assist in the group through the years. During the (13) years of work, (174) former broken headstones now stand tall within their family plots. Another (240+) were removed due to leaning or being partially buried and were reset in the vertical position.
