Volunteers Needed: Art Festival/CoBACH Center

Many senior or newly retired individuals are finding that they have extra time available during the week. Do you have time where you could volunteer once per month for the Brighton Area Historical Society?  Your participation in our volunteer network will allow enjoyable social encounters with other members of the community.

On Saturday and Sunday August 14-15, the annual Brighton Fine Art Festival will transform Main Street into an outdoor display of art.  Many Michigan artists will exhibit their works under the canopy of tents.  The BAHS will have a tent and will display items for sale.  Funds raised will be used to support our community projects.

Times for Saturday are 9am – 6pm. Sunday schedule is 9am – 4pm.  Community volunteer support has been strong and there are several time slots still to be filled. If you have time to volunteer, please call Mindy Kinsey at (248) 660-3964.

We also have a wonderful volunteer opportunity for the Brighton area community at the new City of Brighton Arts, Culture and History Center.  The CoBACH Center is located in the Old Town Hall, next to the beautiful millpond.

Inside you will find historical displays of period items, unique pictures and stories that relate to the history of the Brighton area.  There is an adjacent section where local artists display their work.  For the months of July – October, the BAHS has Sunday and Wednesday time slots of 5pm – 8pm.

The CoBACH Center is air-conditioned and has wireless Internet access for volunteers who bring a laptop.  You can work from the front desk and there is no need to leave the main floor.  You do not need to be a BAHS member to volunteer. Please contact me if you would like more information.  We look forward to hearing from you!
